12 December Wireless Headset Issues and Some Yummy MS LovinApparently Microsoft is once again owning up to issues with one of their products, the wireless headset. It's nice to see them continuing to try to keep everyone happy. This is staight outta Gamerscore Blog We have received feedback from some customers that they have experienced issues while using the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset, including difficulty syncing the headset to the controller, reception interference and audio sensitivity when playing action-packed games like Gears of War. We are committed to providing the highest quality accessories for Xbox 360 and would like to assist in troubleshooting and resolving those issues, whether by replacing or repairing the units under warranty. We encourage anyone experiencing issues with the Wireless Headset to call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX. I have to admit, I love the level of interaction between MS and the community. Whether it's the Xbox.com personalities or just employees in general I've never really seen anything quite like how the folks who work for Microsoft's Xbox team. Whether it's Major Nelson, Trixie, Elle, Gamerscore blog (and even before that there were individual blogs, I know I used to visit John's), the various Windows Live Spaces, they're so committed this community idea. In the past I've emailed Trixie and Major, multiple times, and I actually get responses from them. I'll comment on blogs, like Gamerscore Blog, which is what's prompting this overflow of fanboy love, and they acknowledge me. I've got Trixie on my friend list, and Dirty Diva (but that doesn't count as much because she was on my list before she joined up with MS, we had the whole xbox.com forums/gamertagpics connection). I can't leave out the MVP's, I know a lot of people hate on them hard because of the forum moderation, but I've never had issues because I'm not a jackass, well I am a jackass but the good kind. They've always been pretty helpful. As someone who is an active member of like a million sites I witness all this greatness and just sit back in awe of the whole thing. I'm still gunning for that #1 spot as the official Xbox Community Whore, I think I've earned it at this point. I'm down for a South Park Paris Hilton vs Mr Slave style whore-off anyday. Don't worry, you won't end up in my bum, but I might make you back compat or hack your firmware. 11 December The post about future postsI know I wasn't blogging for a minute there, and I said I'd come back, but I keep talking about the Wii. So besides andything cool in the news let me tell you what you can expect in the next week or so on my blog. Due to a recent purchase I made I will be complaining/bitching about the 360's hard drive, size, and cost. I hate to do it, but if you had what I have you'd feel the same way. I've got the hd dvd drive, so expect something about that. I just haven't felt like watching King Kong to be honest, but I'll get around to it soon, especially since every tv show that I like has stopped running new episodes (I hate that btw). Finally I'll be posting something about Viva Pinata at some point. I don't know how far into this game I'm going to get, but it was easy to burn an hour and half last night playing for the first time. There's just something about that game... Need a break from your 360 to take a Wii?Well then not to worry, because here's the deal. This weekend I went to my local EB Games and was lucky enough to have the cool girl who has been there for like 2 years working, so obviously she knows me. After whispering to her that I wanted to buy Viva Pinata, and one of her male co-workers laughing at me, she asked me if I needed anything else (this was of course after our regular 5 minute conversation). I told her yes, I needed to know when they were gonna get me a Wii. Much to my surprise she leaned in and said "Sunday, but we're not getting many, only like 6, but Target, Best Buy, and all those stores are getting them that day too". SO basically if you're looking to get a Wii, the Sunday, December 16 is the day to do it. How confident am I? Well I was told if I wanted one I should come early, like 6 am, so I know she wouldn't put me through that kind of hell if it wasn't happening. To sum it up, get your ass up early next Sunday and go to some place that sells consoles and get your damn Wii. Will I do that? Now that's a whole other question. 07 December The Ebay auction that is suxxorzYes, another blog about eBay, deal with it. So I've been monitoring eBay looking for a Wii auction where I can get one for around $350-$375, yes the convenience is worth the money to me. I'm an ebay junkie at times, I admit it, but these damn Wii auctions are bugging me. So many people are listing them as "Ninendo Wii with Wii Sports" or "Nintendo Wi/Sports bundle". I'm sorry, but from what I know it's not a bundle when the item you're using to create a bundle is included with the console itself. If so, then I got the Xbox 360 premium bundle with headset and remote. It's just stupid and annoying, because these idiots obviously don't know anything about gaming, aren't gamers, and yet they're in posession of what so many gamers crave. File this under a-holes who need a foot in the ass.
Yes, I blogged about the Wii, sorry, I'm a gamer, sue me. 06 December The Ebay auction that wasn't...To some small degree I'm partial to the Xbox, I know it's shocking (although I do play other consoles and follow their news). I pick up little things here and there for a small collection of cool Xbox swag. Actually my most recent purchase is awesome, and Xbox 360 neon light, but I digress. I love eBay, I seriously don't know what life was like before eBay, or the internet for that matter. I've seen lots of Xbox dev kits for sale on there, considered buying one, but I never really had a use for a dev or debug unit. Now I found the ultimate, and Xbox 360 dev kit for sale on eBay. Bidding is has reached $800+, I have absolutely no use for it, but I'm having the hardest time not placing a big just for some bragging rights. Oh well,. if I'm luck it will wurn out that someone just swapped the case and made a buttload of money on something that you can get at the store for a lot less. Xbox 360 dev kit auction 05 December Halo 3 beta contestSo you may have heard the news that this inital sign up for the beta of Halo 3 multiplayer isn't the only chance you'll have to get involved with the beta period. Well it seems that another method to get involved has already surfaced. I was checking 360Monster.com (yeah that site with the cool sound effect, it's a bloop or blip but I love it) and apparently they have 100 beta codes they're having a contest for. All you have to do is fill out the application and answer the question, they ask what is a Halo 3 vehicle, and they list 3 answers to choose from. The answer is mongoose (at least I think it is). So go ahead and sign up, increase you chances of being the first to play Halo 3. 360Monster 04 December Sorry for the dry spellI know, I haven't been blogging lately, but to be honest, I haven't been gaming either. I've been busy and tired and honestly, gaming isn't something I do to relax, I know I can't be the only one. It can, at time, be very stressful, so after a long day sometimes I just don't want to have to go through it. It's not that I don't enjoy it, but can you imagine playing a game and your heart starts beating so fast and hard that it actually scares you? I thought I was about to have a heart attack one time while playing Halo 2, I had to just stop right there and do some breathing exercises to calm myself. I do enjoy gaming though, it's just not a leisure activity to me. I'm dedicating myself to getting back into this week, so look for more blogs. It's not that I'm not up on the latest news, but I don't feel worthy of blogging about something I'm not doing, ya know? Since I mentioned Halo 2 thought I'd give a quick reminder, not that it's needed, that at some point today you will be able to register for the Halo 3 multiplayer beta. Anyone out there that hook me up with that, I know the odds of getting chosen to do it are likely slim and none. I promise to write about it, or not write about it, but come on, hook me up. I've never been hooked up with anything in gaming, this would be one hell of a start. On a side note, Xbox 360 headset #5 met its end this weekend. I was able to glue it back together, thank god, but that's only a temporary fix. So let's tally that up, that's 2 headsets I broke, and 3 that just stopped working. I don't count the one that didn't work right out of the box as I returned that, we'll call that headset 3.5. |
