22 February Gamertag Radio Episode 87Happy 2nd year anniversary GTR! This week staff members Godfree & Nano
gets together for a short discussion about the podcast. GTR's Best
& worst moments! Why it took us 10 takes to record our first
episode? We are planning to save the celebration for episode #100 which
will be out later this year. For this week's show we have the founder
of The Professional Gamers League of America. He gave us a brief history about the league, what he thinks of MLG & more. Also the producer of Def Jam Icon Brian Hayes gave us the 411 about the game. What he thinks about Hip Hop & gaming, features, the soundtrack & more. Once again JVB from Podtacular.com is a special guest during this interview. Enjoy!! Listen to Episode 87 NOW 20 February PS3 FailureWhile it may be too early to declare the PS3 a failure, it's fairly obvious that the console isn't enjoying the launch window success of Xbox 360 or the Nintendo Wii. Why do I say this? Well think about how hard it was to get an Xbox 360 when it first launched. You couldn't walk into stores and find them sitting on the shelf 2 months after launch day. It's the same for the Wii, you can't find them in stores. Personally I do own a Wii, but I had to get a bundle off of eBay (which I did pay a somewhat reasonable price for). If I wanted a PS3 I could've had one, weeks ago. About 3 weeks ago I walked into Best Buy and saw 4 or 5 PS3's locked away in a cage. I was just plain shocked, Sony has the name recognition, they should be selling. Now fast forward, this past weekend I was at that same Best Buy, around 1:30 pm on a Sunday (prime shopping time) and they had seven 60 gig PS3's available. Skip ahead to today, when I went to my favorite EB Games and talked with my favorite gamer girl about the current state of the PS3. After getting my copy of Crackdown I was asked if I wanted anything else, jokingly, I said yeah do you have any Wii's in stock. She knew I was joking and said of course not, but when I asked if they had any PS3's she said yeah they have 5 60 gig models in stock. While I give Sony a pass because they just got the consoles today, there's no way that last Feb this time the 360 would stay in stock that long, and there's no way the Wii wouldn't sell out within 2 hours. So at this point I've had the chance to get my hands on 17 PS3's. The best part was the guy tonite who asked if I was buying a PS3 because I was asking about it. What more could I need? I have an Xbox 360 and Wii, don't mind the DS Lite, life is perfect. |
